Building a stronger future for the Congolese community in Atlanta

Our Mission

To facilitate the integration of people of Congolese descent in American society while providing the support and resources they need to thrive.

Community & Culture

We charge ourselves with bringing together Congolese and Congolese-Americans residing in the Atlanta area and its suburbs and enable them to promote their common culture and heritage.

Support & Counseling

Providing counseling and support to community members in a time of death, illness, accident, disability, unemployment, etc. Establish a multi-use community center that can be used to provide services, such as education, training, entertainment, to community members and their family.

Youth & Education

Provide community youth with scholarship opportunities and to promote their efforts in seeking other scholarship opportunities and social services.

Guidance & Integration

Counseling and guidance that will enable them to transition to American culture and lifestyle.

Protection & Advocacy

Protect community members from Human Rights violations and injustice, and to forge a common front when such transgression occurs.

Empowerment & Growth

Reorganize and empower community members to seek political, economic, higher education and vocational training for their benefits and the benefit of the community.

Chairman

Musuma Dede Ntumba

Musuma Dede Ntumba was born in the D.R Congo where he studied political science and international relations at the university in Lubumbashi, upon his arrival in the USA he went on and obtained a diploma as medical assistant from New York technical college. After working in the medical field for many years he went on and opened his own transportation business. Before becoming the president of Cocomatl, Mr Ntumba was an active member in the community assisting newcomers from DRC with transportation, documents translation for immigration and housing.

Accounting and Treasury Department

Jean-Louis Mukendi

Jean-Louis Mukendi was born in Kinshasa, D.R. of the Congo. He came to the US as a student to study Business Management. He completed his bachelor's degree in Accounting from Georgia State University and is currently completing his master's in accountancy. His love of the Congolese community made it easy for him to join Cocomatl as a Financial Officer to assist the organization achieve his financial goals and find different donation avenues.

Director of Engineering

Carl Kalonzo

Carl Kalonzo grew up in the Bronx of New York City but proudly considers himself a Congolese Harlem native. For the past nine years, he has been happily married to his wife Tarra, and they recently welcomed their son Kyle into the world. When he is not spending time with his family, he is a die-hard basketball fan and firmly believes that a Laker is the greatest of all time.

Full Stack Web Developer

Bitendelo Lubaïsha Kanga

Bitendelo Lubaïsha Kanga received a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration and later an Associate's degree in Accounting and Finance. However, he decided to change his career and pursue a certificate in Computer Science as a Full Stack Web Developer. As a passionate Full Stack Web Developer and Designer, he enjoys exploring his creative and logical sides.
